VENUE ENTRY POLICY
'It is still 1985' has a friendly & welcoming mixed crowd with a liberal atmosphere attracting a mainly young crowd both straight & LGBTQ+. We prefer people to wear more casual clothes, however we do also encourage fancy dress, that being said, people in the 80s did not dress in neon tutus, neon leg warmers & neon beads, if you come wearing that we may well not let you in just on principal! Think more of the pastel tones of Miami Vice, think more the preppy / grungy look of The Breakfast Club, think more of the leather and stonewashed denim of George Michael, think more the workout wear of Flashdance, think more of the over accessorising New York street style of Madonna & Cyndi Lauper, think David Byrne's massively oversized suit. If you come dressed too smartly i.e. clothes that look like you just came from an office meeting we will also probably not allow you in (unless you look like you just came from an office meeting in the 80s or you are wearing the aforementioned David Byrne oversized suit). We prefer the type of suit that is accompanied by a pair of converse pumps or some sort of retro shoe style rather than smart office shoes. In other words we prefer people to dress casual and not to 'dress up' unless your dressing up is somewhat alternative, or even a costume. We are less heels and flowery dresses / your shirt & shoes brigade and a bit more sneakers and t-shirts generally!
We don't tend to get many people arriving that are not suitable to enter the night, but if you arrive and look like you are ready for a night out on West Street, you look like trouble or unfriendly, or you are part of stag or hen group, you will not be allowed in. Entrance to the night is always only £5. We do not offer any kind of V.I.P. packages or reserve tables as we like all our customers to mix equally with one another without any pretentiousness, although we do have one perk if you buy a ticket in advance then you will also be entitled to jump the queue before 12.30. Of course you also need to be 18 years and over so we also ask you bring valid I.D. We also would like to remind you It Is Still 1985 is an LGBTQ+ friendly club night. Homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny and other bullsh*t will not be tolerated. If anyone is behaving innapropriately towards you please inform the door team.
